PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Skilled independent work involving preparation, application and repairing of surfaces requiring paint or related types of coatings.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Ability to read and write and have communication skills necessary to converse with various types of persons.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work.
Thorough knowledge of painting methods, i.
e.
, preparation, application and repair or touch up, taping and floating sheetrock Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and to work from blueprints and sketches Must maintain valid Texas drivers license and insurable driving record Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Experience:
Five years experience as Painter II or equivalent preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintenance and Repair Maintain and apply coatings to previously coated surfaces or apply new coatings as needed to bare surfaces.
Repairs surfaces as necessary.
Manages assigned work orders, maintaining material and labor costs applied to each job.
Is accountable for supplies purchased or issued.
Responsible for care and maintenance of assigned vehicles and tools.
Responsible for meeting performance standards.
Maintain a clean, safe and well organized facility and work area.
Perform scheduled and emergency repairs and/or maintenance as directed.
Always act in lead position unless accompanied by other Class I so designated.
Carry out all duties in accordance with BISD Board of Education policies and administrative regulations.
Maintain a high personal standard in the following areas:
attitude, cooperation, dependability, judgment, initiative, self-improvement and as a role model for students.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Vehicle, brushes, roller frames, drill motors, orbital and belt sanders, hand tools, personnel lifts, scaffolds, ladder, high-pressure washer and spray paint equipment, sharp cutting and scraping tools WORKING CONDITIONS:

, fumes from paint, paint thinners, deglossers, primers, adhesives, dust, noise, solvents, grease and oil Working with ladders, scaffolds and personnel lifts Working around moving parts of machinery and electrical hazards May be required to work nights or protracted hours The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check.
A cost of up to $49.
00 will be charged for fingerprinting.
