No Job Duties Student Assistant in this position will be the initial contact and represent the Dishman School of Nursing to incoming and current.
While on the phone or in person, Student Assistants are required to be courteous and make positive first impressions.
They work closely with the Nursing Information Center staff, Nursing students, and School of Nursing faculty.
They interact with students who come in for appointments, answer basic questions, may assist students with paperwork, and handle correspondence from various sources.
Student Assistants also pick up and deliver mail to the university post office and various departments.
General office assistance for the Dishman School of Nursing Assist with answering phones, taking messages, and making appointments.
Greeting faculty, staff, students, and other visitors as they come into the office.
Filing, scanning, and uploading documents.
Retrieving office mail from post office, as well as dropping off office mail.
Deliver documents to various on-campus locations.
Answer phone calls and emails Other tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications Work-study eligibility preferred Must respect confidentiality where necessary.
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel Previous experience in an office environment preferred Must be full-time Lamar University student Must have 2.
0 cumulative GPA Must be an undergraduate student and a non-nursing major (no pre-nursing or BSN students) Basic filing skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to follow directions Must be able to work efficiently and accurately Must be prompt and dependable Have a professional manner Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to interact and serve individuals from diverse cultural communities and backgrounds.
Physical Requirements Certifications Required Work Hours Monday through Friday Job Conditions Primarily indoors, office environment.
Office hours for department are Monday through Friday, 8-5.
Work schedule can be flexible around student class schedule.
Pay is $10/hour.
Maximum of 19.
5 hours per week.
